Abstract
Tina Malti is an Alexander von Humboldt Professor and Founding Director of the Humboldt Science Center for Child Development (HumanKind) at Leipzig University where she also leads the Humboldt Research Group for Child Development. She also founded the Centre for Child Development, Mental Health, and Policy at the University of Toronto. Moreover, Prof. Malti is a child psychologist, registered clinical psychologist and author. She has a 25-year research program with over 250 publications on social-emotional development and healthy trajectories. She has developed and validated several interventions and training approaches to nurture every child's development, wellbeing, and mental health, and she creates research-practice partnerships to influence social policy. Prof. Malti is the current president of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSBD).

Tina's research uses state-of-the-art methods and statistics, such as longitudinal designs with multiple methods (e.g., psychophysiology, interviews), developmental cohorts (i.e., birth, early childhood, and middle childhood), and timescales (e.g., daily and annual assessments) to understand the origins, trajectories, and causes of positive human capacities and potential. She focuses on mechanisms and consequences for healthy and positive development in the critical periods of early childhood and adolescence, and she translates her work into strategies and directive outputs for academics, practitioners, policy makers, and the broader community.
